Just saw this post on one of my groups about how to improve one's LinkedIn marketing efforts. Probably duplicates some stuff you've already seen, but if nothing else it's a good reminder of what to do and not do. Find it at http://bit.ly/2mKEp.

True Grit...

What makes the difference between success and just getting by? Researcher Angela Duckworth, University of Pennsylvania, thinks that the answer is "grit" -- not the stuff that gets between your toes at the beach, but the kind that Edison believed in when he said that "Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration." Grit in her terms is the ability to stick to your vision in spite of setbacks and the passing of time.

The Consultant... found on the web

It is told of Sir Harold Jeffrey, the famous theoretician and geophysicist, that he was at one time consultant to an oil company.

Attending their meeting in London, Sir Harold sat quietly while the company's scientists discussed their problems and difficulties. About half way through the morning, they stopped, thought, and said "What do you think of this, Sir Harold?" "I think it's time for coffee" he said. The rest of the morning was spent with more of the scientists' discussion. Then, "What d… Continue

Dear Jon,
Thank you very much for your career advice. Most major consulting companies don't hire Cal State East Bay graduates (they require a degree from top-tier university), but I can definitely look at non-profits. Thanks again for your help, I appreciate it very much.

Dear Mr Seidel,
I graduated from Cal State East Bay last year with an MBA degree in Finance and Strategic Management. I'm looking for an entry-level job opportunity, whether in the form of full-time job or temporary internship. My primary goal is to get experience in the areas that interest me the most. My interests lie in the areas of investments, business consulting and financial services. I believe that I possess high degree of creativity and excellent analytical abilities. I'm a fast learner and a fast performer.
My resume and formal cover letter are available upon request, and I will be grateful for any opportunities.
